Information we handle
Medical Alert is designed to store the information you choose to add to your account and Medical ID.
- Account details, such as your name, email address, and profile photo.
- Medical ID details, including conditions, allergies, medications, care team, insurance, and directives.
- Emergency-contact details and the access level you assign to each contact.
- QR and activity information, including scan time, profile type accessed, and location status when available.
- Device and app information needed to keep the Progressive Web App secure and reliable.
How information is used
We use information to provide your Medical ID, display the profile version you authorize, manage your QR, support account access, and show relevant activity and notifications.
Medical information is not used for advertising or sold to data brokers.
Location permission
The emergency scan page may ask the scanner to share their location so trusted contacts can understand where assistance may be needed. Location access is optional, and emergency information remains available if permission is declined.
Your browser or device controls the permission prompt and allows the permission to be changed later.
Security and retention
Medical Alert is designed with authenticated access, privacy-based profile views, and clear session controls. No system can guarantee absolute security, so you should use a unique password and protect devices that remain signed in.
Information is retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service.
Your choices
You can review and update your Medical ID, sharing permissions, emergency contacts, and message preferences from the app. Account settings provide access to export and deletion controls.
- Turn Limited Share fields on or off.
- Change a trusted contact’s access level or notification preferences.
- Continue without sharing scanner location.
- Export available account information.
- Request account deletion through the account settings flow.
Children’s privacy
Medical Alert is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to online services in their jurisdiction. A parent or legal guardian should manage an account created for a dependent where permitted.
Policy updates
We may update this policy when features, legal requirements, or data practices change. The updated date at the top of this page shows when the current version took effect. Material changes will be communicated through the app or another appropriate channel.
